SA olive growers are advised that the State Voluntary Levy was repealed as of 1 May 2013, when the compulsory National Olive R&D Levy came into operation. The SA levy was established in 2009 to provide a mechanism for olive industry promotion and research and development, including market development, and was set at $6.00 per tonne. This has now been replaced by the compulsory national levy at $3.10 per tonne, providing a significant saving for South Australian Growers.
You’ll find more information on the National Olive R&D Levy and how it works in the coming June edition of Olivegrower & Processor.
