Steady rains throughout a mild season have turned the tide for Tasmanian olive growers, who are expecting a good harvest this year.
Unlike many of their mainland counterparts, the island’s growers have watched the long drought break in their groves, with good winter rains followed by ongoing summer and autumn falls.
They’ve also been spared the catastrophic weather events which have befallen Queensland growers, so are heading for a 2010 crop reflecting both quality and quantity – as long as the weather holds out until harvest.
