Winners in the Olives New Zealand 2013 NZ EVOO Awards were announced last weekend , with international judges praising the local oils as “world class”. Robinsons Bay Olives from Akaroa took out the 2013 Best in Show and Best in Class for Commercial Medium Blend, while Juno Olive Grove at Wairarapa won Best in the Boutique Category with their Juno Koroneiki. Other Best in Class winners were Parkhill Olives Delicate, Moutohora Picual, Robinsons Bay Grove Blend 0113, Old French Road Blend, Weka Koroneiki and Dali Picual. Medals were spread across New Zealand’s growing regions: Wairarapa 22, Hawke’s Bay 11, Kapiti 10, Auckland 8, Canterbury 6, Nelson 5, Waiheke Island and Bay of Plenty 3, and Northland 1 – a total of 11 Gold, 47 Silver and 11 Bronze.
