The 15th Australian Golden Olive Awards, run by the Olive Producers NE Victoria, were judged recently and the celebration dinner was held at the Quality Hotel Wangaratta Gateway on 4 October. There were 62 extra virgin olive oils entered, with 17 Bronze, 31 Silver and 7 Gold medals awarded. The olive products section resulted in 4 Bronze and 2 Gold medals. Judging panel convenor Helen Taylor said the excellent results “were up to the normal very high standard we now expect from this show”, with only seven oils not receiving a medal. The Best Oil in Show and People’s Choice awards were won by Hunter Valley producer Rosto, with Best in Show for table olives awarded to Victoria’s Tiandi Grove.
