New Zealand producers also achieved impressive results at the 2013 LA EVOO Southern Hemisphere Awards, taking a bundle of accolades including a Best of Class, five Gold, four Silver and a Bronze. Highest achiever was Waiheke Island’s Matiatia Grove, whose Robust Blend (Frantoio, Koroneiki, Pendolino) took Best of Class and Gold, while other Golds went to Rangihoua Estate, Azzuro Groves, Man O’ War and Rangihoua Estate. Silver medals were awarded to Azzuro Groves (2), Whangape Grove and Matiatia Grove, with Bronze to Te Arai Motutira. Not a bad cache at all, especially given that timing meant only northern growers were able to enter. Congratulations to all.
