The AOA has obtained a chemical permit for Dimethoate (containing 400 g/L Dimethoate as the only active constituent). Permit #PER1399 was granted to the AOA by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority for the control of Olive Lace Bug (OLB), Green vegetable bug and Rutherglen Bug in olives grown for oil production only. It is prohibited for use on trees for table olive production. The AOA has also been investigating the detection of Olive Bud Mite in feral trees in South Australia.  CEO Lisa Rowntree is encouraging growers to be on the lookout for this pest in their orchards and to notify the AOA if an infestation is discovered.
