The winners of the 2012 Easter Show Olive Oil Awards have been announced, with Rangihoua Estate, Waiheke Island, taking out the Supreme Champion Award with their Waiheke Blend extra virgin olive oil, and winning the Easter Show Logan Campbell Trophy and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Supreme Medal.
The consumer-focussed competition judges only EVOO from olives grown in New Zealand and available for sale. Organisers say the total of nine Silver and 12 Bronze medals awarded this year reflects the fickle weather experienced by many producers this harvest.
