The Olives New Zealand Certification program, in conjunction with the oil testing service at Wagga Wagga (Aust), opens on 1 May and personalised certification packs have now been emailed to all ONZ members. The forms are also on the Olives NZ website for download here. The cost for 2015 remains the same as it has since 2011 but benefits now include additional results and the Certification certificate. ONZ EO Gayle Sheridan has advised that the turnaround time for full results has been extended this year, with the timeframe from receipt of samples by ONZ to receipt of full results now 5–6 weeks, so submission of samples for assessment as soon as possible is recommended. Growers are also reminded that those wanting to sell in bulk should harvest and process in single varietals, as purchasers are rarely interested in blends. Certification provides a great marketing advantage for producers, assuring consumers that the oil they are purchasing is of the highest quality standards, so don’t miss out on your chance to promote your 2015 EVOO with the ONZ OliveMark while at its freshest and best.
