October 10 is World Mental Health Day, so it’s the perfect time to learn more about the role that food plays in mood – and specifically how the Mediterranean diet and EVOO can improve mood.

It’s covered it user-friendly detail in the recording of the Olive Wellness Institute’s webinar on Food and Mood, presented by Dr Wolf Marx from the Food and Mood Centre, and Dr Hannah Mayr from Metro South Hospital and Health Service.

Evidence-backed

The evidence linking mental health and diet has grown steadily over the last few years, and we now know that what we eat can impact both our mood and our risk of mental health conditions. The Mediterranean diet has emerged as one of the best eating patterns for mental health, with studies showing links to improvements in depression symptoms, and links to a decreased risk of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

The webinar unpacks the evidence for the Mediterranean Diet in mental health, as well as the role of polyphenols and extra virgin olive oil in this space.

It’s another great resource to share with your networks as we all work together to support World Mental Health.
