Hort Innovation has released a new publication sharing information on the technology and methodologies which will form the future of successful farm management.
The Smart Farming Technology Guide for Horticulture provides an overview of emerging smart farming sensors and software. The information is presented in the context of trial usage being undertaken on four pilot farms.
Part of the Digital remote monitoring (smart farming) project, the pilot farms have been established across the nursery, banana, vegetable, and avocado industries. Using a digital dashboard to integrate sensor and other data to remotely monitor environmental performance, they aim to improve the productivity and environmental performance of farming systems.
The project commenced in 2020 and will end in 2024, and also includes an extension component to drive adoption by 25% of the 330,000 ha horticultural sector by 2030.
