The Hunter Olive Association staged the 2007 Hunter Valley Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Table Fruit Show during September.
Judging for the show was held on 8th September at the Branxton Hotel, Branxton. The judges assessed 135 exhibits, including extra virgin olive oils, flavour infused olive oils, table olives and olive tapenades.
The results of the Show were announced at the Awards Presentation night on 20th September held at Adina Vineyard, Lovedale. Eighty four of the exhibits were awarded medals.
The Hunter Olive Centre Trophy for ‘The Best Commercial Oil of the Show’ was awarded to Stewart and Robyn Lamond of Talumberi Olives, Laguna for their Robust Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
The Lamonds were also awarded The Olive Centre Trophy for ‘The Best Commercial Oil of the Show from Hunter Valley Fruit’.
The Hunter Olive Association Trophy for ‘The Best Table Olive of the Show’ was awarded to The Hunter Olive Centre, Pokolbin for their Pokolbin Estate Kalamata in Chilli and Garlic.
The Plasdene-Glass Pak Trophy for ‘The Most Successful Exhibitor of the Show’ was awarded to The Hunter Olive Centre.
Judges were pleased with the general standard of entries and the diversity and imagination shown in the flavoured oil and olive classes.
