The latest edition of the Australian Horticulture Statistics Handbook is now available, providing insights and data on 75 horticultural products for the financial year 2023/24.

Drawing on data from supply chain sources, including international trade statistics and industry peak bodies, the Handbook includes information on retail and foodservice use, exports and imports, share of production by State and Territory, wholesale value, and volume.

Key highlights from the report include:

  • Production volume and value continued to climb, production by 6.6% to 6.89 million tonnes and value by 4.3% to $17 billion.
  • Exports reached record highs, increasing by 8.7% in volume and reaching a record high of nearly $3 billion in value.
  • Record year for fruit production value, with significant growth in value for berries, bananas and citrus.
  • Domestic supply expanded to meet demand, with fresh market supply up by 4.3%.

The 2023/24 Handbook can be viewed via the interactive Online dashboard or as five separate downloadable PDF documents covering Introduction and trade, Fruit, Vegetables, Nuts and Other horticulture. Olive industry data is covered on pages 178-181 of the Fruit document.
