With more than 80,000 trees in the greater Geelong Region, there is potential for a vibrant boutique industry. However, almost without exception owners have scaled back production to service a dwindling distribution leaving the trees unattended and underutilised. Geelong Region Olives (GRO) is a newly established company that will bring together and reinvigorate many of the region’s groves under leasing, licencing and contracting arrangements. GRO will own the fruit and produce oil and olive products for food service and consumers with a heavy empahasis on regional provenance and branding.
