National Organic Week, 2-11 October, aims to increase awareness of the benefits of organic products and sustainable agriculture and accelerate the uptake of these in the wider Australian community. Australian can get involved by organising or participating in the events held nationwide and by voting in the Organic Consumer Choice Awards (OCCAs).The only whole of industry organic awards decided by consumers, the OCCAs have been promoting and rewarding the best organic stakeholders around Australia since 2009 and consistently see significant increases in sales of winning organic products. This year there are nine categories, including a new Rising Star Farmer of the Year Award, recognising young innovative organic farmers. The winner in this category will win a scholarship offered by the Organic Federation of Australia. Voting is open from 2-31 October on the National Organic Week website .
