The ATHENA International Olive Oil Competition aims to highlight the significance of competing and winning in Greece, this age-old homeland of the olive and the birthplace of noble competition. Judged by international experts from across the globe, the competition will award not only Gold, Silver and Bronze medals but also Double Gold, for oils receiving 95.5–100/100 points. A range of special awards will also be given, including: Highest score, Best per country of origin, Best single varietal, Best entry per variety, Best blended (multi-varietal) olive oil, Best Koroneiki oil (worldwide), Best Greek Koroneiki oil, Best οrganic extra virgin olive oil (worldwide), Best Greek organic extra virgin olive oil, Best olive oil produced by a winemaker (same estate) and Best Greek olive oil per region.
