The 2024 Hort Innovation Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at 12pm to 1.30pm AEST on Friday, November 29, in person at the Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street. Attendance is also available online or via telephone.
At this year’s AGM, Hort Innovation members will use their voting entitlements to elect two Directors to the Board, and to change the auditor.
Please note that all are welcome to attend the AGM but only registered Members will be permitted to ask questions.

Recruitment of new Directors
Four candidates have been shortlisted by Hort Innovation’s Director Nomination Committee, comprised of the Hort Innovation Chair and three independent members, in keeping with Hort Innovation’s Constitution.
Here’s a snapshot of the Board candidates for 2024:
- Catherine Oates (re-nominating Director): Third generation South-West WA farmer producing wine and stud sheep. Agri-business executive with 20-year global wine production career, experienced non-executive Director within Australian agriculture, previous Deputy Chair of Wine Australia.
- Dr Robert Mullins (re-nominating Director): Raised on a family farm, followed by a local and international career in ag and horticulture businesses. Experienced Director, currently serving Hort Innovation, Future Food Systems, New Edge Microbials and InterGrain.
- Cameron Mackay: Horticultural producer at management level of large family agri-business company, now non-executive Director of Mackays. Senior industry roles including 12 years on Australian Banana Growers Council Board, two as Chairman. Member of Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2009.
- Sarah Courtney: A professional non-executive Director and chair, consultant and vineyard owner in northern Tasmania. MP 2014-2022, served in various Ministerial positions. Currently independent chair of the Tasmanian Forest Products Association, independent chair of listed aquaculture company East 33 and non-executive Director of the Australian Wine Research Institute.
