Entries are up for this year’s Olives SA Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Table Olives Competitions, with 70 olive oil entries and 11 table olive entries received. This is well up on last year and reflects the excellent growing season and crop experienced by many of the state’s growers, as does the reported high quality of many 2013 oils. Hence the judges are arming themselves with plenty of Gold and Silver medals, and steeling themselves for some tough decisions for the major awards. Both competitions will be judged on 28 September, with the awards announced at a presentation dinner at the Kooyonga Golf Club, Lockleys on 24 October.
