The winners of the 2015 New Zealand Extra Virgin Olive Awards, run by Olives New Zealand, were announced on October 3 at a formal dinner in Wellington. Top honours went to Robinsons Bay Olives from Akaroa, which took out the 2015 Best in Show award, as well as Best in Class in the Commercial Medium Blends Class. Man o’War from Waiheke Island won the Best in Boutique Category for growers producing less than 250L of certified EVOO, while Best Flavoured Oil was won By Juno Associates.
Medals were spread across New Zealand’s growing regions, with a breakdown of 11 Gold Medals, 37 Silver Medals and 21 Bronze Medals, a total of 69 medals. Congratulations to all winners and to the NZ industry for producing what the judges described as “some of the best EVOOs tasted this year”.

We’ll bring you more award detail, and pictures from the event, in the December edition of Olivegrower & Processor.
