Women & Leadership Australia and Hort Innovation have announced a new round of scholarships for women in the horticulture sector. The scholarships support emerging, middle and senior women leaders to undertake a range of leadership development programs.
The scholarship program is a part of the Hort Frontiers funded project Advancing women’s leadership across the Australian horticultural sector (LP16000), which will deliver funding of more than $170,000 and provide 32 scholarships, valued at up to 83% of standard program fees.
Delivered part-time and fully online, the courses are designed for women who are already employed, and combine a focus on applied learning with the latest in leadership theory and practice.
Scholarships are available to those working in both levy and non-levy paying horticultural organisations, including wholesalers, distributors and research and development bodies. Both individuals and groups of employees within the sector are encouraged to apply.
Women & Leadership Australia CEO Suzi Finkelstein said the scholarships enable more women within the horticulture sector to access powerful and effective leadership development opportunities, and support gender equity across the sector.
“We are delighted to be able to offer this funding for a fifth year,” she said.
“This initiative has already supported 68 women across all areas of the horticulture sector, and we look forward to broadening that impact this year.’
Expressions of interest for the 2021 scholarship program close on Friday, 8 October, unless allocated prior. The funding is available to women working in both levy and non-levy paying organisations.
