There’s little doubt that extra virgin olive oil and olive leaf extract have huge health and nutritional benefits – the evidence is in. But what other properties does the olive tree have that are good for your health?

Providing the answers is the Olive Wellness Institute’s podcast detailing the qualities of nature’s very own “super plant”. It’s just one episode in the Olive Wellness podcast series, which features expert presenters focussing on all aspects of olive science and knowledge around health and wellness.

Listen while you cook

The “super plant” podcast is a little over 17 minutes long, making it ideal to listen to while you whip up a batch of Italian crostoli biscuits – a traditional holiday season treat – from the recipe provided on the OWI’s website.

The OWI’s version of these crispy delights is made with extra virgin olive oil, and is perfect for a party or to enjoy every day with a cuppa.  They are light, citrussy and subtly sweet, and the substitution of EVOO for the traditional butter gives them a healthier twist. And each batch makes heaps, so it’s a great recipe to add to your farmers market tasting repertoire as well!

You’ll find the podcast here and the OWI’s Italian crostoli biscuit recipe here.

These resources and many more, all available on the Olive Wellness Institute website, are produced as part of the olive levy investment project Educating Health Professionals About Australian Olive Products (OL22001).
