In addition to the program’s longstanding scholarship investors, this year the Federal Government’s Future Drought Fund (FDF) is investing in five-plus scholarships that are specifically available to study drought resilience.

The FDF’s $1.6 million investment aims to help farmers prepare for drought resilience in a changing climate. Scholars will have the opportunity to travel overseas to study drought resilience and learn from international leaders in the field.

The successful scholars will gain expertise, and learn about adaptive innovative technology and practices from overseas; then share these learnings to advance Australian agriculture by building drought resilience among farmers and their communities.

Details:

  • Each drought resilience scholarship is valued at $35,000.
  • Open to farmers and others working in food and fibre production aged between 28-45.
  • To be considered for a 2024 scholarship, you apply in 2023. Research and travel start in 2024.
  • All scholarships are available to Australian citizens or permanent residents only.
  • Applications for 2024 close on Friday, 9 June 2023.
